Chesapeake Beach area September 2012

Spanish mackeral are still being caught but will probably head out very soon.  mouth of eastern bay and south of poplar island seems to be the hot spot.  blues are in the same area and some reaching 5 or so lbs.  best method for blues is bottom bouncing surgical hoses about 4 knot average speed, note you may need to very your speed from day to day pending conditions and currents.  for spanish mackeral the #1 drones seem to be the ticket this year on 1/2 planers about 5-6 knots again varying your speed.  live lining for stripers is getting spotty but still workable.  inshore anglers casting plugs and top water baits are getting some good action early morning and late evening.  trolling for stripers should pick up soon,  trolling spoons (until the blues leave) and (size to match with size of bait) with varied weight to cover the water column is your best bet.  Mouths of rivers and creeks is starting to turn on as well.  Closest to chesapeake beach would be mouth of the choptank and parkers creek to name a few.  remember boating safety and working equipment and gear, extremely important.
Hook'em up!
